General Guidelines

  1. You must bring music/songs recorded on a DATA CD(data CD). Since we obviously cannot provide any song which a team requires, you should ensure you have the correct CD, with the correct songs written on it, etc. before coming to IIT Kanpur.
  2. Just to be on the safer side, teams should have at least two CDs, one for submission to us and another for their usage and as a backup in case of any technical problems. We are sorry, but in the digital age, no audio cassettes will be allowed.
  3. In a preliminary rounds, teams present only a part of their prepared performance in the given time. The team decides which part of their dance they want to present. To avoid any problems the music for the prelims should be a separate file in the CD and edited according to the time limit.
  4. Participants' music piece should be adjusted according to the time limit.
  5. Teams will have to bring their own music systems, etc, for practice.
  6. We may have a huge campus but there are only a limited number of places fit for practice, thats why, the organizing team doesn't guarantee the availability of a place for practice.
  7. LIVE MUSIC is allowed only for ROOTS, The Folk Dance competition and NATRAJ, The Indian Classical Dance competition.
  8. Props (wherever allowed) are to be arranged by participants themselves unless specified.

How do we define a prop?

A prop is anything which is not worn on the body as part of the costume such as a hand-held hat, a ball, a chair, or any piece of costume that is removed during the routine. No equipments or props that require electricity, or that we consider hazardous (fire, smoke or fog devices, knives, throwing of confetti or glitter, etc.) are allowed.
  • Since we have a jampacked schedule during the event, it is required of the team to ensure that stage looks the same before and after their performance.
  • If you are planning to use the lights, it would be a good idea to bring along someone to manage the lights, because he would know what to do; which will be better than having any random person from the lights group handling the lights.
